I can’t say that I was sorry to see that Lorraine Higgins has been unsuccessful in getting nominated to stay on as a Senator. A lady who comes across as singularly condescending and unpleasant, she is so enamoured of her own appearance that if she were made of chocolate she would undoubtedly eat herself. And yet the public has made it clear over and over that they don’t want the pro-censorship chancer. She has, however, just consistently ignored the voters and goes on preaching from that last bastion of elitism — the Seanad — anyway. Mercifully, no longer.
Still – and staying with the Labour Party — it’s a bit rich seeing the former Minister of State Aodhán (‘Principles? What principles?’) O Riordáin sticking his oar in instead. Is this the same gouger who was screaming for the abolition of the Seanad not too long ago, I hear you ask?
Of course it is. And of course that was before the voters showed that they didn’t want him either. So – naturally – in order to stay hanging from the Gravy Train it was all aboard for the Seanad!
Good man, Aodhán. I like to see a man with the courage of his convictions; but that’s not you.
Kevin Humphreys has also been told by the electorate not to let the door hit him on the ass as he leaves. Is he leaving? Not a bit of it! Where’s he aiming for? Why, the Seanad, of course!
And don’t forget, folks, that you’re only ordinary citizens and so you don’t have a say in any of this.
When are we seeing that reform again?
No, I’m not going to hold my breath either. Troughs and the greedy snouts of unwanted politicians go so well together, don’t they?
